    SLO PD

I saw that SLO PD is looking for a few new guys.

Can any of you guys at SLO or the surrounding area offer some advice for the recruitment process?

    testing,
    panel interview,
    etc.

    Thank you.

    SSPRO,

I applied with SLOPD several years ago after I finished putting myself through the academy and I seem to recall their process being similar to that of the other agencies in the area.

The oral panel consisted of a command staff member from both the SLOPD and the SLOSO in addition to a civilian panel member. The questions were your typical LEO panel questions with an emphasize on issues relating to sexual harassment.

I did very well on the oral and physical agility testing but ultimately was passed over for an applicant with vastly more experience and qualifications from a large department in the Bay Area. Because San Luis is such a nice area and their pay is among the highest in the state, they have a tendency to attract officers/deputies from other agencies with lots of experience.

I suggest you first acquaint yourself with the department by obtaining a copy of the annual report and sign up for some ride-alongs.

If SLOPD doesn't work out for you, there are several other great departments to choose from in this area such as The San Luis Obispo Sherriff's Office.

    Good Luck
