    Danner Boots for Academy Training

Anyone have experience with the following boots: comfort, reliable, durable? It will be used for CHP Academy training.

Danner Recon Mens/Womens 200G Uniform Boots

Danner Fort Lewis Mens/Womens 200G Uniform Boots

    Any other boot suggestions?

I've had a couple pairs of Danners. They've lasted a long time though not as long as the Rockys I wore in the academy. I still have them 8 years later. I wore them every day in the academy and then for about a year after. Then I treated them with Leather Luster and they have been my dress boots since.

I do think Danners last longer than other boots but they are quite heavy. I prefer a lighter boot that I might have to replace more often. I haven't been in uniform in 2 years but when I was on patrol I had good luck with Oakleys lasting longer than I expected and bad luck with 5.11. For a cheaper boot, I found Original SWAT to be decent but I don't recommend it unless you are trying to save money.

You can get a decent pair of boots for the academy without spending Danner money. Go to a good uniform shop and try on everything. Get the most comfortable pair.

        Rockys shine better.

Find out what is authorized. We were not allowed to wear boots in the academy, black dress shoes only.

If allowed, I second the Acadia recommendation! I always got them with 200g of insulation, too. The insulation helps when standing on hot pavement or in cold mud. And they can be resoled...I still have an original pair from 1994.

And the Acadia's use a one-piece GoreTex liner...I could submerge the boot in water up to the laces and not get a drop inside.

Danner boots are a mark of superior craftsmanship, Our hiking, hunting, work, military, and law enforcement boots are built with GORE-TEX waterproof liners, durable Vibram outsoles, and full-grain leather.
You will never, in your life, have a chance like this again.
If I were you, I would not pass this up. I would not let this go by...this is rare.
              Come on...what harm??

That's why I love the Danners. A little warm in the summer but there's nothing worse that hitting a puddle you didn't see and having a soaking wet foot.

I wore Bates Lites Oxfords exclusively in the academy.... no way in H#LL were we allowed to wear boots... until the last week, to start breaking them in... that was many years ago... I guess, wearing boots is the norm now...

But in any case.... I'll say this time and time again... Danner Acadia's... simply the best in fit, finish, shine and durability... plus it looks just right with LEO uniforms...

I'll go against the grain here. I wear Corcoran marauders, great boot, very secure. Not the all leather one, the cordura and leather ones. Probably going to pick up some under armor boots this week too for a light summer boot.

Pretty much can guarantee you won't be allowed to wear the Corcorans in the acad, they're a jump boot.

They were great, stayed clean, easy to shine, quick to break in, and comfertable. I still use them now for class B uniforms.

+1 we had to wear patent leather.
