    LEO Advice Please

(calguns related in that this is the first time ive ever actually felt i might have to use a firearm ahead of the PD arriving)

Over the course of the past few months our neighbors across the street have become increasingly threatening - its a multi generational household, and now the 20 somethings have taken over with wild parties till early morning, attracting a bunch of nasty people (not to stereotype, but gang tattoos, wife beater shirts, etc.); they are out of place in what id call a very typical suburban neighborhood. the noise makes it difficult for my kids to get to sleep.

Ive called the local PD (non emergency of course) 2x before in attempt to try to get the place settled down, but thats got limited effect (nothing overtly illegal going on there - there have been prior arrests there before of the middle generation, what appear to be minor drug transactions, and the occasional person sleeping in their car.)

Last night things escalated - about 20 partiers, starting firing significant fireworks over the street; I went out and told them to chill it out; the result was about 15 poured out into the street immediately in front of my house, and started advancing; i felt really threatened and felt compelled to ready my AR, while calling the PD (who never showed - cant blame them as 4th of July must be a nightmare)

eventually the crowd dissipated, i kept an overwatch from a good position for while and eventually things settled. the situation was really unsettling -im not the paranoid type, but no doubt they were discussing coming to bang into my house.

question is -- what course would you take? I am in no way looking for a fight here, i have way more at stake than these losers.

This is one instance where as much as I hate them because they dictate what a person can do with their property a homeowners association would be awesome.
What is the consensus between the rest of the neighborhood?

I feel your pain btw, before I left home I we had neighbors who moved and rented their home. The renters tended to always be unsavory folks, drug users etc. One tenant was removed after Contra Costa County Sheriff knocked the door off the hinges and hauled them all out I assume over drugs... never asked though not my business just glad they were gone.

The last tenants moved on their own after some rivals kicked their door in and robbed them. They moved within 24 hours such a relief as the traffic in and out of the house was unnerving especially when I'd be working in my garage with the door up and people looking to buy would pull up in my driveway then realize it was the wrong house.

        Best of luck

I would give them a Stern warning, explain my concern, and tel them to back off my property. If they advance and start breaking windows, and kicking my door, they are fair game.

Call the PD/SO every time they do something wrong. Documentation is the key. Keep the pressure on and if necessary get a restraining order on the family. You may want to go to your local PD/SO and ask them in person what the process is in your jurisdiction. The restraining order is an easy violation to arrest folks for (at least in my day). Maybe your jurisdiction has a local code violation/code enforcement officer/process you can follow through with. If you can get your other neighbors involved that would help quite a bit. Keep calling and document wrong doings yourself (date, time, video & etc).

Find out who the owner is and see if there is an avenue through the owner (if they rent of course). If they rent have the local jurisdiction contact the owner (even if its code enforcement).

            Its a long process....Good Luck!

+1 On the restraining order. As long as you a trail of threats to back it up. God be with you brother cause you are living my worse fear. Be at the ready to defend yourself but as my advice would go, don't draw a weapon unless the coroner is gonna show up. Absolutely as an act of defense IN your own home. I can't stress that enough.

Possibly ask for a meeting with the local watch commander of the PD and get there advice.

Its a stressful situation with the kids and the wife coming and going...good luck.
              ,
and our leaders allow themselves to be spoon fed with foreign BS and have forgotten that the great majority of americans do not live in secluded gated comunities with private security 24/7 like they do, while the rest of us are subject to defending ourselves without Police escorts whenever we need it. they dont realize we are subject to different dangers than they are, and we must have and keep the right do defend ourselves!

Maybe a better approach would have been to pull up a lawn chair and a cold beer and enjoy the fireworks. For a quicker response you should have called the fun police. ;-)

I won't get a restraining order, won't that just piss them off?

I would have just done what NOTARPilot said chill out and enjoy the fireworks.

Not a good idea to approach them especially if they are " those " kind of people. That's the police job to approach. Oddjobs advice is good. Document and report everything. Keep calling till something is done and yes if you can get the neighbors to call and complain too that would b a plus. Strength in numbers. Also FYI. Keep the gun cocked. But b sure that if you use it that it was definatly without a doubt needed in the situation or your house will be the next vacant house on the block. Good luck.
