Avoid zippers. They tend to pop/break.

The Danner APB is the best of both worlds. Confort of the Strikers and recraftability of the Acadia.

Danner boots are a mark of superior craftsmanship, Our hiking, hunting, work, military, and law enforcement boots are built with GORE-TEX waterproof liners, durable Vibram outsoles, and full-grain leather.

You can't go wrong with the Acadia. I have a pair from about 1997 that are still going strong. About time to send them in for a resole.

I have only had 1 pair of Danner's in 12 years of LE work. Too hot, too heavy, made my feet sweat, and way too expensive. I can't help but feel like a lot of people buy and wear Danner's because that is what they see everyone else wearing.

I prefer Rocky's, which look like Danner's but hold up just as well, are lighter, and cost less than half as much. Oakley's are good too, if less durable and not shineable.

I am still wearing the same pair of Danner Acadias since 1999. They have been resoled several times.

While a bit heavier than other boots, they afford me excellent foot and ankle support.

I have worked modified uniform assignments which allowed me to wear more "athletic" style boots. But when I am in full uniform, I only wear my Danners.

I've had the Striker. Great boot. I would lean this way if you need something that you will be running in every day. The sole is great for absorbing impact. If your academy is anything like ours, you'll be running every day in boots. I'd rock the zipper too just to save time. Nothing like having a rushed inspection with 5 minutes to change from PT cloths to uniform.

For a duty boot, I have 2 pairs of the Acadia.

If you insist on DANNER make sure you don't get the one made in China, comfortable boots but are made in China and are NOT recraftable.

I've got some of the Chinese made ones and they replaced the first pair. After a year both began to eat a pair of laces a week. Acadia should be here in a day or two (I hope).

I ran thorogood boots for a long time. I then switched to the Danner Acadia boots for duty use and never looked back. I use the Danners every day, I use the thorogood for class A dress.

I work with CDCR and wear my Acadias for up to 16 hours a day. By far the best boot I've ever worn. When I was going through the academy, one of the other cadets was going up to Oregon for a family trip and told me that the Danner factory store in Portland has "cosmetic seconds" boots for sale. He picked me up a pair of the 8 inch acadias and honestly I couldn't really see the blemish. Since it was in Oregon they didn't charge sales tax and was able to get them for $150. Try contacting them and see if they are willing to ship them out to you.
