Retired LEO CCW at ATT Park

Any problems for a retired LEO with dept. issued ccw bringing a concealed firearm into ATT park in S.F.?

I usually carry my PM 9 in my front pocket. Wanted to check before I go. Sorry if this has been covered but my search did not reveal much information. Also I'll be riding BART to the game.

WEAPONS With the exception of law enforcement personnel, guests may not bring weapons of any kind into AT&T Park. Security supervisors should be notified if a guest arrives with an off-duty weapon. Please contact Security Control with name, address, phone number, seat location and a photo I.D. of the agency the individual is affiliated with.

Some arenas in socal will not allow off duty or retired LEO's in with firearms. Staples Center and The Pnd in Anaheim are some. And they do check, sometimes with on duty officers manning the doors.

I attended the Giants/Dodgers game last night with my infant daughter and I was surprised that I was able to walk right in without any security checks. There was also no metal detector, pat down, or LE at the gate to greet us.

Caught me off guard with all the supposed extra security hype at AT&T Park, due to the Brian Stow incident in LA... never again will I take my daughter to that rivalry series.

Last year I attended the 49ers/Giants NFC Championship game at Candlestick Park. Not only was I checked/pat down at the gate, but I also had to sign in with SFPD/Security.

With the Giants, security ramps up in the post season (same for the Sharks)....that is when the metal detectors and extra checks go into place.

With the 49ers at Candlestick it the same policy from pre-season through to the playoffs. There are officers at every gate. Get their attention or let CSC Security (the yellow jackets) know who you are. Show the officer your ticket(s) and ID. They'll notify the CP to note your seat location in the event of an incident that there might be an armed LEO there.

I went to the first series at AT&T Park after the Brian Stow incident. There was a bit of tension but I have to say the SF Giants fans are fairly civilized.

The security was excellent in and around the ballpark, and I felt I could razz the Dodgers fans without any threat to my safety.

As for weapon checks, it is fairly lax. Not only have I do I bring in my carry knife regularly, I have snuck in bottles of liquor as well.

I don't like leaving my CCW in the car, but why do you need it insode anyway. It makes me shutter to think about shooting anywhere in that park without hitting someone and getting sue'd into poverty. Walking away from trouble and being a good witness is the best for those kind of situations.
I was off duty once and dealt with Staples Center / Sac Arena. They would not let it in and was giving me lip about bringing it, stating it was private property etc.
I left it in my car that night, and from then on at concerts / events.

It's not needed in the park. My concern was walking to and from public transit on both ends of my trip.

You are correct in that the owner of private property may control the presence of weapons on their property, for all but on duty peace officers. Many venues don't allow them and that's why I asked.

The situation would have to be dire, for me as a retired LEO to take any action beyond calling the authorities. I'm not Rambo just cautious.

Possibly; for it to work, you'd have to believe troublemakers read the papers . But I work security sometimes, so I talk to the park folks, and they told me the same thing.
