    question

my aunt found a gun in her home. she thinks her ex husband owned it and bought it from some guy back in the day. she doesn't know if its legally registered. what does she do with it? can she register it? does she need to submit it to the police? will she get in trouble for it? any advice would be much appreciated. thank you.

i read the form eltee, thanks. my only question is the part where they ask how she acquired the firearm. i don't even know if its set up to be California legal. i have to take a look at it.

Very few handguns are illegal in California - pretty much, if it doesn't look sort of like this one -- -- it's legal.

'Ex-husband gave it to me years ago' would be enough.

Should be covered by operation of law. Just fill out the DOJ paperwork and submit it.

              Don't register it...it isn't required.
"Police, at all times, should maintain a relationship with the public that gives reality to the historic tradition that the police are the public and the public are the police; the police being only members of the public who are paid to give full-time attention to duties which are incumbent upon every citizen."
