    Finding open positions

I've recently become interested in making a career change and I've started applying to LEO openings. Besides checking city/county websites and searching on google is there any other good ways to find current openings? I'd prefer to stay in southern California.

The CA POST website often has listings for PO positions. Many often require some years of experience or are “lateral” type positions.

Best of luck in your search.

"LEO openings" is a broad statement. If you want a LEO position I suggest you look at some of the colleges and or banks for sworn police officers. I did a quick search and saw many openings at local colleges. Is is possible to put yourself through the academy? What about taking exams (POST) or CSO positions. Hope this helps and good luck!

Open an account at www.governmentjobs.com Many cities use this website.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'm already set up on governmentjobs.com from previous apps with the DA, but forgot about the search function on their so thanks for that - found a few openings there. Specifically, I'm interested in PD and Sheriff Deputy positions.

Looking out of state is good advice as well if you don't mind moving. San Antonio is hiring, and IIRC, they have a pretty good benefit package.

                  Best of luck.
