    LA County Gun Buy back

Just saw the news about the gun buyback and they had a bazooka in there and tons of Ak's and SKS. Just wanted to ask the LEO's here if they are going to sell those guns for good cause i.e. funds for new equipment. For I would like to purchase a few of those nice rifles.

Or is this broadcast was just for show for anti-gun purposes. What's your take...

I think I cried during that piece...

But that does give me an idea...sell my old .22 to help fund a new AK (I bet you could sell that gift card). Man this buyback program might not be so bad after all....

This Video is so Old 2009!

I think somebody should suggest to the city and resell it to citizens that are allowed to own weapons. Who's giving them ideas that criminals can get their hands on these guns? Unless there's another "Fast and Furious " gun scheme out there that our city is involved. They should have sold those AK's as rebuild kits so our police can buy newer equipment. I think that detroying weapons is a waste.

I don't know why everyone gets worked up over a demilled launcher tube lmao. If it was a real AT-4 or rocket launcher they wouldn't just scrap it, they'd have to remove the war head with the bomb squad.

If people wana piss away their money to make themselves 'sleep better at night' or whatever go right ahead. Some people I will never understand. For ****z n gigs, I wonder what would happen if you brought a inert 500 lb bomb on the back of a pick up.

this is a very effective program. every crackhead and dopefiend with access to an illegal gun is going to steal it and turn it in for dope money. and maybe a few legal guns too.

0351USMC is correct that the guns eventually end up in the furnace, but the guns also go through a crushing machine (I think the technician told me it's 3 1/2 tons of pressure). And yes, I've been to that unholy place and it was depressing.

I was saddened when I saw some of the beautiful weapons that people had turned in. I saw M-16's, an M1 Garand, and a whole boat load of shotguns, sks's, etc. It really sucked cause I knew they were all headed for the crusher / then for a melt down.

In a 10 second news blurb, I saw a blonde Mak-90 and an apparently original Russian SKS on the scrap heap. I threw up in my mouth a little bit.

Makes me sick, but my former boss, Leroy D. IS proud of it.

LASD hasn't had a real Sheriff since Peter J. Pitchess. I'm glad Peter J. Swore me in.

a few years back the LASD staged the photos using a bunch of evidence guns and a bunch of M-16 they had received from the DRMO program. The junk that was turned in wasn't press worthy so they upped the stakes. The media has to sell it and BACA is a political figure.

Leroy is a politician, just as anyone who has to be elected into office... it's the nature of the job... but in any event, too bad I didn't see this... I have some old crappy stuff I can turn in to fund a new shiny gun!

I recall seeing a YouTube video about some guy who did that during a Detroit gun buyback program. He stood in the parking lot and intercepted people coming to the gun buyback who had good guns and he offered more money than the buyback. The Detroit cops stopped him and then couldn't find anything illegal with what he was doing so they just stood by while he did his thing.
