    Santa Clara County CCW

I'm interested in obtaining a CCW permit from Santa Clara County (I live there). I have lived in CA for about a year, but this is the first time I have tried exploring the CCW process.

My research leads me to believe that Santa Clara county may be a little unorthodox in its CCW process, so I was hoping I could find a knowledgeable Santa Clara LEO to help me out.

Is there any way to increase my chances in being issued a permit? Should I take my time to get to know my local LEOs before applying? Is there value in having formal firearms training before applying? Should I try to make an appointment to discuss the matter with the sheriff directly, or would that just be a waste of time?

    Thanks all for your help!

Frozen in 2015, it is falling out of date and I can no longer edit the content. But much of it is still good!

A California court just struck the requirement of "good cause" needed and said that it's unconstitutional to limit law-abiding citizens to carry concealed weapons.

The courts are where we get back our constitutional rights. For details of another current court case related to concealed and open carry, see this: http://blog.californiarighttocarry.org/
