Written by an uneducated elected official who has jumped aboard the leftist bandwagon. It is an assinine AB and hopefully the CGF will act immediately to seek an injunction if passed. The satisfaction of a job well done is to be the one who has done it

Your question is confusing. If they didn't have "LE status" they could not have purchased an off roster piece. The satisfaction of a job well done is to be the one who has done it

Here is my question .
The law reads that a person with LE status CAN NOT PPT an off roster handgun to a person w/o LE status. Right?
Lets say an LEO buys a used handgun on consignment. right here on calguns or from a friend and later wants to sell it?
He DID NOT use His status to buy it . Why can't He sell it at a later time via PPT ?
Under this new Law an LEO will not be able to PPT any handgun that they inherited from their father or grandfather?Last edited by ap3572001; 05-05-2012, 10:18 AM.Comment

I have not read the entire bill but it appears that any gun that is not on the roster cannot be transfered to another party unless they have the exemption. When I have a few free minutes I'll read the entire bill and see if I can decifer what all that mumbo-jumbo means. The satisfaction of a job well done is to be the one who has done it

The way that I understand it, is that an LEO can not PPT ANY OFF ROSTER HANDGUN to someone who is NOT an LEO.Comment

Yes, apparently so. We can thank those foolio cops up north for ruining that ability for us.The satisfaction of a job well done is to be the one who has done it

Absolutely. We don't really have any of those over-paid and under-worked political figures on our side for the 2A up there in Sacto. Hoping there can be some pro 2A groups who will step in and fight for us. I have also contacted my association to look into it as well and to make an informed challange. The satisfaction of a job well done is to be the one who has done it

Just talked to an attorney friend of mine. IT WILL ONLY PASS IF LEO'S WILL BE TOLD THAT THEY CAN NOT PPT OFF ROSTER HANDGUNS THAT THEY BOUGHT USING THEIR STATUS. It will not pass the way it is written now.Absolutely. We don't really have any of those over-paid and under-worked political figures on our side for the 2A up there in Sacto. Here is a MAJOR flaw and a reason why it will NOT pass as written:Absolutely. We don't really have any of those over-paid and under-worked political figures on our side for the 2A up there in Sacto. *This bill would prohibit a person exempted under the above
provision from giving a handgun to a person who is not exempted under
the same provision. *
Here is a REALISTIC example.
LEO buys a Colt Double Eagle (for example) right here on calguns.
He meets the owner at FFL and they do a PPT.
Under the new law, if HE will ever decide to sell this Colt Double Eagle in Ca, He will HAVE to sell and PPT it to another LEO.
I see some issues here.
1). He DID not buy this OFF ROSTER handgun using His LEO status.
2). Anyone else in the state who buys an off roster handgun VIA PPT , CAN PPT it at ANYTIME to anyone who can own a handgun in CA.
3).Lets say this LEO has been buying all kinds of OFF ROSTER/OUT of production handguns for years. Using His status and just regular PPT's from private sellers.
When He/She retires, and is NO LONGER an LEO , can they PPT/SELL them to anyone who can legally own a handgun ? Or do they STILL have to sell it to LEO?
4). What about handguns that LEO's bought/had BEFORE taking the job?Comment

If this passes, I see a lot of LEOs converting handguns to SS or SA in the future.NRA Certified Pistol, Rifle, Shotgun and Metallic Cartridge Reloading Instructor

Another stupid waste of time by California politicians. Sponsoring more gun control bills, anti-dog hunting bills, etc. Where have they been the last 8 years?
The voters should be asking, who's working on our economy? Where's the bills to make it easier on businesses here? Where's the bills to attract more businesses and jobs to the state?John Bishop
