Does anyone know if a double blade knife is legal to own in CA. I saw one to day where it opened with two separate aprox. 5" in blades curved slightly in opposite directions. The handle was about 4" long making the overall length with both blades open about 14". I don't know of any law off the top of my head that makes it illegal to own or possess, however when I saw it I though twice before giving it back. It looks has a similar look to the link listed below but the blades were not as curved and was overall much larger. Ir was also just a folding knife that had to be manually opened for each blade. If it is legal to own, is it legal to conceal?

If it's a dirk or dagger it's illegal to carry one concealed upon a person......
21310. PC Except as provided in Chapter 1 (commencing with Section
17700) of Division 2 of Title 2, any person in this state who carries
concealed upon the person any dirk or dagger is punishable by
imprisonment in a county jail not exceeding one year or in the state
prison.
Based on that photo it would appear to be a dirk or dagger, as it would be a stabbing instrument.Last edited by SVT-40; 05-02-2012, 10:31 PM.Poke'm with a stick!

its a lock blade / folding blade knife.. however you name that..
granted, having it in an open/locked position, and stuck in your wasteband (same as any knife/lockblade), would qualify as dirk/dagger, but in a closed/locked position in your pocket it does not, nor does removing it from your pocket and opening it and using it to peel an orangeComment

Pretty useless as a tool in my opinion. I'll keep my Spyderco thank you very much.
Or, get a Klingon battle knife.LASD Retired

Almost all fixed-blade knives I have seen would be classed as dirk or dagger.
However, there are these: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti...wont-stab.html -
;
can't 'readily be used as a stabbing weapon, nor could this one:
Ice picks have no edge and qualify as stabbing weapons.ARCHIVED Calguns Foundation Wiki here: http://web.archive.org/web/201908310...itle=Main_Page

+1, there we go, except the spyderco part
a folded knife in a pocket, cannot be readily used as a stabbing instrument, once you remove it from pocket and open it, it is no longer concealed
12020 (c) (24) As used in this section, a "dirk" or "dagger" means a knife or other instrument with or without a handguard that is capable of ready use as a stabbing weapon that may inflict great bodily injury or death. A nonlocking folding knife, a folding knife that is not prohibited by Section 653k, or a pocketknife is capable of ready use as a stabbing weapon that may inflict great bodily injury or death only if the blade of the knife is exposed and locked into position
has to be in ready to use/stab position, a 'sheathed' knife does not qualify
20200. A knife carried in a sheath that is worn openly suspended
from the waist of the wearer is not concealed within the meaning of
Section 16140, 16340, 17350, or 21310.Comment
