I'm 27, a cop, and have been driving around my vette for 3 years. But my vette has a front plate.

What year is your Z06? Great cars aren't they? Not even on the same level as the standard vette.

I remember when I first started driving many many many moons ago. I had a 1979 Olds Cutlass Supreme. It was a mess inside, fast food bags, burger wrappers, I would just let the trash pile up and then clean it out every couple of weeks or so.

My dad would tell me that I was just asking for a hard look from LEOs if I got pulled over. I thought he was full of crap (well I was 18) until I got pulled over a couple of times.

After that I kept the inside of my car clean. On the rare occasions I've been pulled over since then over the last 20+ years I barely rate a second glance.

My dad's reasoning was that drug users and the like typically don't take care of their cars and thus it's a profiling thing (not racial profiling). Of course he knew what he was talking about, his career was spent as a Probation Officer.

No, I had a newer GTO before and it did not have a front plate either. Before that was an old celica which I think had a front plate, but I removed it at one point - I believe - and there was never a question of if that was mine, lol, either.

I've always been extremely anal about keeping my cars clean, especially newer and nicer ones. I may have had a few things in the trunk, but my cabins were always clean and relatively dust free.

I got pulled over and the police officer saw my camera gear and asked me about it, if it is mine, what do I do for work, then said, "If I run the serial numbers on that stuff what am I going to find?" I replied, "Um, that is has 2 months of warranty left on it?"

I was bothered that he insinuated the gear was stolen, but I guess 9 times out of 10 it is. I just chalked it up to him not meeting enough people like m on the job.

Would you be bothered if someone steals your camera gear, and the way it's recovered is by an officer asking the right questions at a traffic stop? Most likely, the question was not meant as an insult.

I understand, and he no doubt sees more stolen high dollar items than legally owned high dollar items. That's the nature of his job.
