Letter from LAPD background stuff. Confused.

I applied to LAPD a week ago and took the written test. The other day i received a letter in the mail, and it basically stated that they received my preliminary background questionnaire and identified background issues that could prevent me from successfully completing the background investigation part. Then it lists the issue, and at the end of the letter, it reads the following:

If after considering this information you still wish to continue in the process you may call (213) 473-9060 to schedule the next test parts.

Was i supposed to call this number to proceed to take the written test or am i supposed to wait for my results? Do i even need to call this number?

If you don't call, they will presume that you are no longer interested in continuing in the testing process.

You will have to evaluate how the "issues" they have identified and determine how they apply to you.

It means that you can still continue in the process if you're confident that the issues in your background can be explained/overcome. If you decide to go ahead and they see these issues as to much of a hurdle, you will be disqualified and your application terminated. If you do not want to take this risk, you do not continue with the process and you would be done as of now.

It could also be a way of thinning the heard. A lot of people have "questionable" things in their backgrounds. We are all human. Just don't keep child porn in your storage locker...seen that before. Good luck, LAPD is a good department.
