Hey all I was wondering what the La Sheriffs custody assistant academy consists of? Can anyone help and gimme some inside scoop?

that academy s run much like a Deputy class in structure. The instructiion is much shorter though. I believe it is 8 weeks. It is not a POST progrm but is run through the Calif Standards and Training for Corrections (STC) program. Go to the STC website and download the Adult Corrections Officer Core trainiing manual if you want to see what the state requires as the minimum level of instruction.

OP: Lt Mike is correct, around 8 or 9 weeks. Similar to Deputy academy but shorter and no firearms training. Some of the cadre are C/A's too. It's a great job and you will work side by side with Deps.
