You been reading the news at all? I understand getting your foot in the door, just tread carefully once you get there.

I did. I know they laid off officers.

But I don't believe they will spend all that time and money into testing and training a recruit and then not give them a job.

Don't think it would hurt to just go ahead and test for them and see where it brings me.

Why would they test if they don't plan to hire at all?

Every test helps you do better on others, so it is not a waste of time.

Testing is expensive, I don't know of any agency that spends that kind of money when they don't plain hiring. A lot of their laid off personnel may have moved on to greener pastures and declined offers for rehire.

        Good luck!

From what I understand, they laid off the last 2 academies they had when the fiscal crisis hit. A lot of the lay offs were also people in FTO.

But I wasn't talking about that, I was talking about the department going into receivership with that nutbag of a liberal judge behind the wheel.

If they are opening the testing process, they are going to form a list and hire. As Ron-Solo notes, the process costs big money that the city doesn't have a lot of.

FWIW, the department has been cut well past the bone. Guys in service are retiring or moving on and the resource pool gets that much smaller. Eventually they have to hire.
