Any LEO do a PPT w/ Dept Letter ?

I'm gonna buy a Kimber Ultra Raptor II for off duty cary from a Local guy. I called the place where we are gonna do the transfer however they kinda seemed a bit confused also...

They (FFL) said I'd need the seller's name and name of the company on my dept letter head, along with the usual; make, model, caliber, serial number, etc.

Does anyone know for certain before I put a memo in for the letter?

It should be like any other PPT unless you're trying to get around the 10-day wait.

Yes, the letter is for the waiting period.

        Jaysen:

My experience with a PPT from an FFL is I had met the guy at the FFL and completed all the paperwork, paid the fees, emailed my department head with firearm info (make, model, serial #) and got a letter to retrieve the firearm that day.

        Hope this was helpful.

          ^^this...

Co-worker of mine bought my XD from me and took possession of it the same day. We drafted up a letter with the departmental letterhead and our Commander signed it. We went down to our local FFL and did the PPT. He paid for the DROS and that was it. pretty easy and fast.

I have used a letter for a PPT, more than one. The letters only had the FFL info and the gun info, not the sellers. The letter is to verify your status and waive the 10 day.

But if your FFL is requesting that the sellers info is on the letter as well, just do it the way they want. Pretend you're back on FTO, doesn't matter if you're right or not.

Also done PPT with letter, no problems.

Stores can make up any policy they want I suppose. The Penal Code certainly doesn't require any of that but short of printing out sections and getting them to change their policy, writing what they want may be easiest. This shouldn't be any big deal. Your purchasing a gun you are clearly allowed to own, the letter is only exempting the 10days which should be a minor event

second thought, since PPT doesn't carry the extra transfer fees some dealers charge, just meet your seller at a different FFL, and be done with it.
