    Any SDSO applicants?

Are there any applicants here applying for this department? If so has anyone heard back from the department lately?

When did you take your written test? I have been told they are planning to hire close to 500.
I am still waiting for my test result. However, my process with Riverside Sheriff's is going very fast.

I took the written in Feb. and passed that. After
I was given a link to fill out some preliminary background info and that was passed as well. I have a background orientation/interview scheduled for the 21st, but
I'm not sure what that step entails. I applied to RSO and scheduled my test date ASAP, but due to my work schedule and to many missed days for other department testing, I have to reschedule. I'm in the SF bay area so multiple trips to so cal are difficult(damn expensive too)!

It can't take up to 90 days to hear back just on passing the written. Patience is the name of the game in any application process. I would say to apply locally and to what you can commit to. They don't like flakes.

Agreed, I've only set appointments with one southern California department I'd want to work for. The local agencies up here are starting to pick up as well and I've been looking into them as well.

It might take a while (from the SDSO website):

Due to the extremely high number of recent applicants, the recruitment for the Deputy Sheriff Cadet and Deputy Sheriff Cadet Detentions/Court Services classifications will be temporarily suspended from March 10, 2012 to June 1, 2012.

During the course of the suspension, we will not be accepting applications for either classification to allow sufficient time for the San Diego Sheriff's Personnel Division to process the large back log of applications. Once the recruitment re-opens on June 1, 2012, we will once again be accepting applications for both classifications and the recruitment will remain open until further notice.

We apologize for the inconvenience this may cause and ask that you remain patient with the process. Please feel free to search this website for answers to your questions regarding the employment opportunities with our department and the steps of the hiring process.

I just received an email from SDAD yesterday. I am to come down to the department next month to fill out my background package.
