would this be considered concealed carry

I am thinking about a holster for hiking that is similar in positioning but places the grip slightly out more and the overall position at the belt line.

While backpacking this would be very convenient especially in tight areas like brush ect. I tried laying down and several other things on top of a training gun and I could find no way for it to injure me if I fell on it. And my backpack would also offer some additional protection if I did.

It's not my attempt to conceal my pistol - I would not wear a jacket or anything covering it but I am afraid it's positioning could be misconstrued by a ranger ect.

Looks like the backpack would cover most of it causing concealment and pain between your back and the pack, also would you not sweep yourself if you drew from that postion?

Actually I would wear the backpack above and inside the frame of the pistol not over it so that it formed an L shaped border. Generally I use a small jansport pack to hike with. And I am starting to have some concerns that towards the summer I will start seeing more and more mountain lions.

The holster itself would lower the pistol to the belt line as well away from the SOB I just couldn't find a good example.

I would basically be using a custom serpa - I have one in 45 degree that I have practiced with and haven't found myself barrel sweeping during draw.

You don't see mountain lions...they see you.

ha ha yeah pretty much although I have come across a few that weren't real happy about it. I have to be really care full in one area near a waterfall as apparently I am down wind and much quieter than the waterfall. The area above palm ave in San Bernardo at the southwest end of the range gets really sketchy because I know they are up there and have attacked before. And it's a really narrow trail some places. I probably wouldn't go but my friend likes to hike with his daughter there on weekends since it's right up the street and he rarely has time to go anywhere else.
