Right Answer: (Sheepish look on face) God! How did you know???? It was only for a while when I was younger. Besides, all my friends were doing it too. You've never done it? Come on, you're telling me you've never thought about it? Just a little? (reaching into pocket) Here, I have some photo's if you want to see 'em. (smiling)

Wrong Answer: You're right, I do; especially with that B%(&^ you call a daughter !

Had a psych and poly over 35 years ago. No psycho questions about sex with animals or relatives, etc. Poly was easy too, just 15 cups of strong coffee before I went in to get my heart rate up. <grin>

Just got my rejection letter, so I guess that answers my question.

Next step, appeal? Has anyone done this and found it to be worth it? I guess I have nothing to lose at this point right?

Buddy of mine had to pay for his appeals evaluation. He made it in after the appeal. Our psych evaluator is a nut job though and my buddy was more than qualified. Long story, but if you honestly feel you are qualified and you want to risk some of your own money, go for it.

Wish I could be of more help to you. If you want some more details, I can share them with you, just don't look for any miraculous answers though.

First question, is there even an appeals process? Some places have you sign a letter stating that you know decisions are final and you won't get any explanations.

Other places like LA have very clear appeal procedures and timelines.

Find out first and see if it is worth it to you to pursue.

Good idea, I will have to look over my papers and see. The letter says to call the office if I have any questions, so I will take a look at what I have and then call and see if that is even an option. Thanks for everyone's help so far!

Fight it. Just my own story....My psych interview went terrible. Lady told me that she couldn't believe I made it as far as I did, I couldn't do the job, and that she honestly believed I would f up and get someone hurt or worse. This was because I spent about 4 years at a JC pursuing a degree in something different, and no courses transferred to a "real" school, among a few other personal issues. We got in a yelling match during my interview. Seriously. She recommended a "no" vote on the hiring panel. Luckily I had a BI who actually cared and liked me, and they got in a screaming match about it during the panel.

That was just over 4 years ago. I like to send her my commendation letters and awards with my name sharpie'd over and say "you said no, glad they didn't listen." Point is, the Psych interview is subjective, and if you can appeal it, then fight tooth and nail.

I had a similar experience. The person conducting the interview was very unprofessional, egotistical, and extremely nasty. I know they are just trying to see how your going to hold up under pressure or up in front of a jury but I think this does more harm than good sometimes. The last thing an honest law abiding applicant expects from a potential employer is them attacking you. It doesn't really inspire a foundation for trust amongst peers but more so a trust no one/every man for himself type attitude.

How I would handle being attacked or insulted while I am doing my job on the street has no correlation to how I am when I am being supposedly examined and then insulted by someone who is supposedly the professional who is there to render a professional opinion. You want to test how I would react to people in my daily work? Go send a BI to tail me and watch me for a day or two.
