DOJ

I knew this was coming! CSLEA & Alan Barcelona rolled the dice and backed the wrong horse for Governor. This is political payback, no matter how you slice it... and 200+ DOJ Special Agents are paying the price.

One of my best friends is a DOJ SA and the layoff seniority went up to 11.65 years! Damn... imagine having 11 yrs on the job and then being told to hit the bricks.

Hopefully, these cops will have soft landings somewhere and city/county agencies will scoop these folks up as laterals.

As I sat at the CSLEA convention where they endorsed Uncle Jerry's competition I shook my head and wondered how many folks would get roasted. As a state employee during Pete Wilson's tenure I can attest to what happens when you back the wrong horse for Governor. I wish all the luck to those displaced DOJ folks.

Its the same for State Parole

I have several friends that left my department to go to the state for the better retirement. They have all been told that anyone with up to 10 years and possibly 12 years will be released within 3 years.

With AB109 in place the number of state inmates is going down and their will not be any new corrections positions for these parole folks to demote to. They were also told that DJJ (formerly CYA) will cease to exist in the next 3 years as well. State officers are in for a difficult time.

My department opened up applications for Deputy Probation Officer II and made it possible for any LEO with case load experience and 3 years LEO experience to apply. Ive met several state parole guys that are in our process as we speak. our retirement is garbage, but at least we are not laying folks off, in fact we are growing.
