    COCO Sheriff, medical exam?

    Hey all,

I have my medical and psych exam for the Contra Costa Sheriff's office this week and I was wondering what the requirements and tests were, specifically for the medical. I believe I am in pretty decent cardiovascular shape and lift weights regularly, but I am worried about a height and weight requirement to pass. I wouldn't say I am fat, but I could lose a few pounds. Anyone know if there is a weight requirement for their medical, or do you just have to pass the tests satisfactory?

    Thanks!

Im a big guy and I passed (6'4 285). For my agency they didnt care so much about height and weight but more about health. They hooked me up to an ekg machine and a tread mill. look up cardiovascular stress test for a better idea. you run on a tread mill till your heart rate reaches a certain point. it sucks but its not impossible. the fatter you are the less you have to run. I ran for 8 minutes before they told me I was done. A buddy of mine who is in amazing shape ran for 30 before they told him he was done. dont sweat it.

Thanks for clearing that up! I am 6'4" and ~240 right now. I have read that some agencies use a ~230 pound cut-off for our height, some use body fat, and some have no requirement as long as you pass the tests.
