    Been busy for a bit

In case anyone was wondering where I disappeared to, my wife had back surgery on Jan 27, stemming from a car accident in 1994. It was a 80 mile round trip to the hospital and home for 4 days and I've been taking care of her at home since she was discharged on Jan 31. I was hoping all these years that she would never know what I've been thru, but that finally ended.

The first few days were pretty rough for her since the initial pain meds didn't work and it took a couple of days to find something to work. She is doing better now, but still has a long road to full recovery.

I've only been on the site sporadically for a few minutes here and there. As she gets better, I find that I have more time to get back on here.

Hey there retired... I was wondering about you... How is the Bionic pain killer thingy they put in you working out? Wishing your wife the best and a speedy recovery.

Sorry to hear of your wife's pain. I too have witnessed my wife in excruciating pain and had the pain meds not touching it. Pretty awful. I hope this surgery fixes the problem for good.

Thanks for all of the nice comments everyone. To answer your question MaHoTex, it is working great. I used to be in pain for about 5 minutes upon getting out of bed every morning. Since having the spinal stimulator implanted, that is gone.

What makes it more remarkable is that we had to remove the 4" Tempuredic topper since it makes our mattress 22" high and my wife was unable to get in bed even with her stool. The mattress is a firm one and I still don't have pain.

The doc said they hope for a 50% improvement, but it is more like 90 to 95%!!

I will pass on your comments to my wife and I'm sure it will be appreciated.

I had a back strain once, can't even imagine having major surgery. Hope the recovery is going well!

Best wishes for your wife. I know first hand how the back pain feels.
