    OIS Monterey Park CA!!!

Prime example of how dangerous the job is.

The officers were in the right, dont mind the title of the video, I put a link up.

This shows why an officer tells you stay out of the way you never know whats going to happen. Most people think LEO are being mean when they say stand back well here is why you need to stay out of the way, you put the officers life in danger as well as your own life.

(People were in the line of fire a few seconds before the shooting)

I like sharing interesting videos and getting insight from you all.

I just hate when people twist these situations, the suspect escalated the level of force on himself, not the officers.

Background, suspect was at a Carls Jr breaking windows with a pick axe or something. Went inside the establishment scared everybody, Police arrived tried to subdue the suspect and it all went down hill for the suspect.

Stay safe out there a LEO almost got his head punctured.

Yes I saw this in OT http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...d.php?t=526779 and the armchair inter-backs are all over it...painful to read that thread sometimes

I like how some of the same people are always saying the same thing. I stopped reading that thread after about 3 pages. When some people suggest that the officers didn't try enough of the other force options, you know the what those people's opinions are really worth. In fairness, there are a good amount of people in that thread who can see the situation for what it was, and can put themselves in the officer's shoes.

Anybody who says they would not have done the same thing those officers did is IMO a damn fool.

Read through all of the pages in the OT Forum. Typical Monday Morning, Armchair QB'ing going on. It took all of my strength not to post anything. Instead, I just read what the Armchair Ninjas would have done.

There were a handful of people who defended the Officer, and his actions. To them, I say thank you. To the others... Oh well. It is, what it is.

As far as I'm concerned, that K9 Handler is a hero. He protected his partner, and ensured that they both went home safe, to their families.

Not even gonna click on that OT link - I just know I'm gonna get frustrated at all the ignorant, anti-LE, keyboard commando BS comments. Second the thanks to any non-LEOs who understand the actions taken and support LE in general.

Wow thank god the K9 officer shot before the suspect caused serious bodily injury to the other fellow officer, definitely deserves a medal. I can see the review board having a field day for tactics though.... All in all good shooting imo.

Looks like the K9 Officer couldn't react fast to use less than lethal. Since his K9 was on a leash in his left hand, the easiest weapon for him to access would be his pistol.

Looks like a good shooting to me.

Let's see. . . bad guy was about to swing five pounds of iron at the head of the officer who attempted to subdue him with OC. Yes, that's a justified use of lethal force.

A few of my partners from the college were almost first responders to this call as there were a few plant facilities workers at Carls when this guy started busting out windows and they contacted us through the two ways that they carry. MPKPD did an awesome job and Im glad both officers went home safely.

Looks like a reasonable use of force to me at first blush. The suspect made some very bad choices that led to the officer having to use lethal force and that is always tragic.

What is maddening, to me, is the car full of idiots behind the camera apparently rejoicing and laughing over the death of another human being before their eyes. Too much time spent on CoD and WoW for them, I guess.

If keyboard commandos can't make those distinctions then I can't help them.

Thank God for the reasonable officer standard. The amount of ignorance about violent encounters is shocking. Good job by the K9 officer to shoot while restraining his partner.

Good job to the K-9 officer. It is obvious his partner was about to get hit in the head with that pick axe. Completely appropriate use of force.

It's human nature to Monday morning, Q back, be back seat driver etc. It's something we as humans do. Don't sweat it.

Non professional opinion and question follows.

Once the guy turned towards the officer and began to raise his pipe bender. He was maybe 1 to 1.5 seconds from striking and injuring or killing that officer.

In my mind the K 9 officer didn't have time to use any other option than to shoot. His dog could not cover the distance and be guaranteed to stop the swing. Nor could he drop the leash and holster his gun and engage in time either.

^^If I'm wrong on this. Please point it out.

My question to the group is. Is it normal to be that close to a suspect like this one for what seems a prolonged time?
