Anyone Running or on B2V support teams?

I'm not a B2V caliber runner but I will be there driving a follow vehicle. Naturally we will be around for the parties, after parties, and post after parties. Just wondering if any other Calguns LEO's are attending/ running/ going up to socialize and hang out?

I ran last year but I guess our bureau couldnt come up with enough money for us to do it again this year. What kind of times do the runners at your station do?

Our department ran pretty good last year. I know a few buddies on the team. I really want to join but I dont have the extra time to show up for meeting and practice.

Usually, they run at 5 - 6 min mile. It became very competitive compared to 20 years ago.

Ya I have heard that certain custody facilities hand pick new deputies that have shown they can run during the academy.

It was pretty funny last year because a few people on our team were so sure that we were going to take home a mug but they didnt think it was necessary for us to train more than once a month. We also didnt get our legs assigned to us until 1 week before the race which made it extremely hard to prepare for what kind of run we needed to be ready for. Needless to say we didnt come anywhere close as very few of us even broke the 8:30 per mile time. But on the bright side, we did better than the previous year so at least we were heading in the right direction.

This is generally true. Whereas some stations or departments might ask for volunteers to run, there are mug runs and qualifiers that Custody facilities use to select runners for the teams. Suffice to say they often do very well. Plus a lot of them are young and already in great shape being fairly new on the job.

This year's B2V should be interesting. Might see a new overall winner. The usual winning team for the past 3-4 years has not been allowed to practice on duty anymore. From what I understand, CHP gave them a "run for their money" last year.

Personally, I don't see the big deal about B2V. Don't like running, the heat, or Vegas.

                    We'll see....

My agency's district office will be participating, but it will be next year. That should give me a good timeframe for training lol.

I have been on a team for the last 4 years, (running? not a fricking chance lol) but I have been on the medical team the whole time, so if you ever met me at med base you probably don't remember it. Won't be out there this year as my first is due to arrive 2 weeks before the race. Can't get the wife to agree to that one.
