Had to share my Excitment from today.....

So today I was called to the Captains Office.. So thinking to myself, "great what happened...." And of course he pulls the "Come in have a seat" thing... sits there kinda staring at his computer screen. Then gives me word that at the end of the month I will be hitting the CERT (SORT, DCT, CRT depending on what term you accustomed to) Academy. Excitement. Motivation. Fear. Determination. have all but consumed me. This is something I have wanted for a long time. Ive done all the basic responses, have stood with them in disturbances. But now I been given the chance to be part of the elite if you will, the chance to be part of that brotherhood.

Ive heard all the war stories about it. Its going to push me to my limits and beyond. Its going to test me harder then I have ever been tested before. I know I'm in for some pain, I'm in for some sore body parts... And people call me crazy, but it makes me smile.

Sorry had to rant about my excitement. You may now carry on with your night. LOL

            CERT? Are you in corrections?

Congrats! But this is just the beginning of a long and painful journey, that has great rewards at the end. Good luck. Don't ever give up.

Congrats! I felt the same way when they issued me my SWAT patches!

CERT to us is the community civilians who get hardhats and a backpack full of emergency supplies.

Would you like to tell us exactly what you accomplished? I CERTainly could not imagine you are that excited about training a bunch of retirees how to knock on doors and use walkie-talkies.

Haha, we have CERT like that in my city too... but I was thinking it was some other type of acronym for their version of SWAT.

CERT, DCT, CRT, SORT are all acronyms used by different area, agencies etc etc. but basically describe the same thing.

Even if it was the hard hat retirees thing, I would have thought you were going to get trained to be an instructor or be the LE liaison so it wouldn't be that bad... as long as it was the gig you wanted.
