the exemption covers manufacturing of magazines for use by an LEO. If the LEO is manufacturing those mags for his use (not limited to just those mags for "official use"), then that manufacturing is exempt.

12020(b)(30)(B) The manufacture of a large-capacity magazine for use by a sworn peace officer as defined in Chapter 4.5 (commencing with Section 830) of Title 3 of Part 2 who is authorized to carry a firearm in the course and scope of his or her duties.

Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?

Proforce or LAPRAAC over the counter.

        I stand corrected.

DSG Arms will do it and also provide a nice discount on other stuff after you open a LE account with them.

Cope's ships tons of kits here to CA and charges a $1 disassembly fee, which ain't bad because they do have a few hard to find LE use magazines such as the 75 round AK drums, which are in common use for K-9 units and bomb squads.

Exile Machine is a vendor though so they get props for being CA friendly while most places openly shun us.

FTF: All State Police in Pomona

            Online: Exile

With LEO creds you can get those items easily.

              FTF: ProForce or LAPRAAC

They can also order what they don't have on hand.

Thanks! Just FYI we do have AK 75 round drums, shipped assembled to LEO or disassembled to everyone else and we never charge a fee. Even a buck fee is a slap in the face to Californians. I know, I paid outrageous disassembly fees when I lived in San Diego and never forgot it. Swore when I got to a free state and opened my own shop I'd always charge the same price to customers in all the states.

All State doesn't carry Sig products. proForce in Brea.

I ordered directly from Sig. They beat everyone's prices. They just needed copies of my ID and the order had to be placed by email from my work email (they got my credit card info by phone) as a verification, and they shipped directly to me at my work address.

For duty use, I only used factory mags, never aftermarket, but that's just me.

As I type this, I turn to the south and salute Exile Machine from the great state of Oklahoma for their support. THANKS!

Personally, I've never seen any LEA that uses AKs for anything. Bomb squad or K9 units especially.

Thank you all for your replies. As far as factory mags go, Sig now contracts with Check-Mate for their factory magazine production. It has the Sig Sauer name on it but not the Sig Sauer quality. My Check-Mate "factory" mags sit too low in the gun, about 1/16th or 1/8th inch low causing failures 100% of the time. I have photos of the failure if someone can guide me on posting them.

Mecgar used to be the factory manufacture for Sig Sauer, top quality magazines, 18rnds flush fit too.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned yzernie. For the OP, he is a member here and also an active leo who sells a lot of Sig products. You might pm him about the mags. He also has a thread in this forum listing various guns for sale to leos.

I receive no referral fee. (Dang it)

I would take that issue up with Sig if you are having problems with factor mags. They usually stand behind their stuff pretty good.

As far as after market, Exile Machine is a great source.

It was a joke... oh well... gotta learn to use the smileys!

Besides, everyone who is a real cop knows that K-9 and Bomb Techs only use the 32 round stick magazines in their Skorpion .32ACP pistols so they can keep one hand free for working. Only the mopes over in Traffic Division use the 75 round AK drums on their Draco pistols because they are still compact enough to mount on a motor.

In addition to all of the worthwhile suggestions above, I have had good luck in ordering and having them shipped to my department.

That also seems to satisfy the shipper's concerns.

I know Botach has had a less than stellar reputation in the past, but I had two orders within the last two weeks and both arrived within several days of ordering. Both orders were for Glock mags. They asked for my LEO ID through email and it was a painless process. And they pay for tax and shipping. I was quite nervous at first with all the negative reviews but they really impressed me. I guess they really are trying to change their name.

Also, 44mag.com is a good place for mags with low shipping costs (email him a copy of your LEO ID and you don't pay the repair kit fee).

Out of stock but they always come back in stock quick in my experience with this site (sign up for updates):
