    Two Shot Already

    Sergeant Abimael Castro-Berrocales was shot and killed after stopping a speeding vehicle on PR-100 in Cabo Rojo, Puerto Rico, at approximately 9:30 am.

    I wondered how long it would be before an LEO was killed in 2012. Was hoping it wouldn't be this soon.

    2010 was the most deadly year for LE in over a decade, and 2011 surpassed that with 163 killed. 2012 doesn't look to be any better. Be safe.

              Not only was 2011 deadly, it was the first time more officers died from gunfire than traffic related causes... people are gunning for us out there.

              Be careful and watch your six.

                  Perhaps only a small comfort, but in 2011 we lost only six brothers here in California and only two to gunfire, down from ten the year before. And well below the average of nearly a dozen line of duty deaths per year across the first decade of the new century. There are wins, even in sadness.
