About the only time our department flat out tells people why they will not be hired is at the review of the background packet. Usually it is when someone admits to something like admitting to GTA, DV, recent drug use, or something really big. Bad credit history will usually be brought up.

Ive come to the conclusion that I am a boring interviewee. One of my friends sat on a hiring panel and told me I probably didint get hired because of the boring yes/no answers I gave on top of being a "single white male" in his words. I guess if your single they consider that being unstable. When people go to interview 99 percent are going to give the same canned answers. The liar with no integrity is going to say the same stuff as the guy with integrity so when you have a 1000 people all saying the same thing, the only thing that is going to make you stand out from the pack is different examples or that mil/le experience. Thanks to everyone for the feedback, maybe this will help a few others out there that are going through the same process. Over time refinement makes perfect.

No, it's actually about the right age. Young enough that your body is still in tact and mature enough that the rookie isn't going to crash the same number of cars a 21 year old will.

When I said that only starts the questions, I meant that there may be some issues that are not really favorable considering the circumstances. Of course all this is also dependent on other facts.

PS - I've never been a background investigator. Plenty of my friends were when my department hired a ton of people in a 2 year period, so I got some pretty good insight as to who looks for what. So take the advice as you will.

I got hired at 22 and am 26 now. But I do know what you mean by the maturity thing, thankfully I always felt that I was an old soul stuck in a young body lol.

PS - I've only crashed one car and that was when I got rammed into during a pursuit so I guess I didnt really crash it hahaha
