It's hard to believe that five years ago today I hung up my badge and gun. Man time sure flies.

I am retired 5 years too. Its time to renew my CCW. My department issues a retirement ID with an expiration date for the CCW validation. Do you got to do the same thing?

The dept renewed it earlier in the year when I did my LEOSA qualification so I'm also good for another five also.

I redid the math... 10 years minimum for me, 15 if I want a semi-decent retirement pension, 22 to max it out before I drop dead... which will probably happen if I push it.

Congrats. I'm out 13 years this February and still working in the corporate world. Always wanted to have more retirement years than years on the job and I'm working at it! Stay safe!

Careful. IN state you are good. However, the fine print within the LEOSA states that to CCW under the fed reg, you must qualify annually so if you travel out of your home state, under the letter of the law you need evidence of an annual requal.

I know many do miss it to an extent. Speaking for myself as someone who is still young enough to do the job but not able to (physically or otherwise), I miss it terribly.

SVT-40, congrats on making it 5 years into your well earned retirement. I'm gonna need to inspect your collection sometime.

I miss parts of the job. I miss the great people I worked with, but I don't miss the budget headaches and the bs politics that come with the territory. I retired last March after 32+ years.
