Carrying in National forrest

Hey Gent's,


I took a trip up to the San Bernardino national forest Mtn's, I brought my XD pistol with me. I was wondering what are the regulations in terms of carrying in the Forrest?

I know there's a fish and game code stating you can ( Per CA Law). My concern i'm just not 100% sure, I think the area of the mountains I was in are controlled by the U.S forest service. I'm just not too sure of what the Feds have to say.

This CalGuns sticky covers most of the NF and BLM questions http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...d.php?t=186457 however California has so many regulations and public land management plans vary , it is good practice to call the local Ranger LE in the area you want to recreate in. These folks are usually enthusiastic in providing the public with information. As a general rule, yes, NF and BLM you can carry. But as I mentioned the management plans are different for different areas so you should inquire. It's a good idea to pick up a CA hunting license as coyotes and Jack Rabbits are open season year round, so many areas that will indeed be closed to target shooting are open to hunting. A hunting license will open up many areas for you to to hunt/ carry that would be otherwise closed. Be aware of the condor zone as merely being in possession of *any* lead bullet while hunting will get you in trouble. It is legal to hunt coyotes and jack rabbits with pistol. Call local Ranger LE and read DFG regs it could save you a lot of trouble.
