Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?

Paying the fee is the only way you're gonna know for sure.
If you spent time in juvie, then it's reasonable to assume you were arrested... do you remember the charge? PC 422 (Formerly "Terrorist Threats"; now "Criminal Threats") maybe? If it was 422, that's a wobbler... meaning they could arrest and charge for either felony or misdemeanor. I don't know where this took place, but the county I worked in rarely took a juvenile to the hall for less than a felony arrest.
So, assuming you were arrested for felony 422... and I can only guess that at this point... the crucial question is - what happened after your hour in juvenile hall? Did you go to court? Did you have a judge sentence you? Did you have to do any community service or meet with a probation officer? Were you ever told that you were on probation?
The thing that's going to present an issue for you buying a gun isn't whether you were arrested or even charged, but whether you were convicted.
Here are the questions asked on the 4473 form when you buy a firearm:
Questions b and c are the two you need to figure out...a. Are you the actual buyer of the firearm(s) listed on this form?
b. Are you under indictment or information in any court for a felony, or any other crime, for which the judge could imprison you for more than one year?
c. Have you been convicted in any court of a felony, or any other crime, for which the judge could have imprisoned you for more than one year, even if you received a shorter sentence including probation?
d. Are you a fugitive from justice?
e. Are you an unlawful user of, or addicted to, marijuana, or any depressant, stimulant, or narcotic drug, or any other controlled substance?
f. Have you ever been adjudicated mentally defective (which includes having been adjudicated incompetent to manage your own affairs) or have you ever been committed to a mental institution?
g. Have you been discharged from the Armed Forces under dishonorable conditions?
h. Are you subject to a court order restraining you from harassing, stalking, or threatening your child or an intimate partner or child of such partner?
i. Have you been convicted in any court of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence?
j. Have you ever renounced your United States citizenship?
k. Are you an alien illegally in the United States?
l. Are you a nonimmigrant alien?

ill probably send the form in, and i wasn't sent to court or anything, all that happened was i was picked up from school by an officer, spent an hour or so in juvenile hall and my dad picked me up, never heard anything about it again. and my intention in starting this thread was to find out if stuff that happened when i was a minor affected me after i became an adult, or some similar widely known law that made it obvious one way or the other, if it was going to become complicated such as finding out what exactly i was sent in for i was going to send in the form
so annoying the person who called it in(my mother), didn't want to press charges or anything just wanted to discredit me to help back up her decision to give up custody of me in the divorce(assumed), but whether i'm guilty or not of anything isn't in question, so not even sure why i typed that.
i don't know what she said on the phone, but what happened was i was complaining to my mother about my father saying my mother told the divorce people i threatened her with fireworks , but it wasnt a police matter yet, then while complaining i said "if i was going to hurt you i could have and would have, and since you're still alive it means i will not" but being a kid and less articulate she heard it as i will cut her and called it in, since they let my father get me out as soon as he was able, i assumed it wasn't a serious offenseLast edited by yaybacon; 11-14-2011, 6:19 PM.Comment

You almost certainly would have had an appearance before the juvenile judge in order to be convicted of a felony. They would have made it very clear that you were convicted of a felony, and you probably would have even had a court-appointed lawyer if you were up for a felony. I really doubt that you have a conviction.Comment
