How many handcuffs and where do you carry them?

I was wondering what is the number of handcuffs you carry and how/where do you carry them?

There are a lot of variations amongst officers and and agencies. Single cuff in the middle, single cuff to the side, double cuffs, double cuffs in single pouch, in the front, on the side, on a vest. The list and variations is extensive.

And age does seem to matter. When I first started, double cuffs in the back was great. As the years have gone by and the back has gotten "more mileage," cuffs moved toward a side position looks better to save the back strain.

What do you do and how has it worked for you?

Double cuffs in front, extra set on passenger spot light handle. I also have a set of zip cuffs in the back if needed.

For the responses of "cuffs in the front," is that on your primary side, or support side?

Literally, right in front... The buckle separates my mags and cuff pouch. Cuffs closer to duty weapon.

I always carried two, with a third set on the spot light handle, passenger side, as noted above.

Started with single pouches, one at 4 o'clock and one at 8 o'clock. When we went to nylon I changed to a double pouch up front, weak side and next to the buckle. Mags were strong side next to the buckle.

Two single cuffs in the back, evenly spaced to the sides. Two more in a grab bag between the front seats. Plus flex cuffs in the war bag.

This was my setup when I worked patrol. I'm in a pain clothes assignment now and I just keep one set in my back waistband. Though I've got two on my raid vest when I'm wearing that.

Patrol was just authorized to wear load bearing vests. When I go back to patrol I'll probably only keep my gun and mags on my belt.
