    OCSD testing and OCSD handguns

I was just wondering if anyone else is going to the OCSD testing this Saturday at Tustin. I know I will be there for written test, fitness test, and pre-interview.
I decided to try out for OCSD as well while I am in the hiring process with LASD. I just hope I get the call soon from LASD because it has been over 2 months since
I turned in my background package. I still do not know my BI yet.....

I hope I pass the written test this Saturday.. so far I have never failed any written test, but I am still little nervous about this Saturday.

I didn't plan on going but it might be a good ideas being as I recieved a call back from LASD about testing. I would like to see the drills maybe record them so I can have the physical part down at least. I have been doing critical thinking questions and studying algebra all over again along with physical training.

Im in backgrounds with the lasd also. It might take a couple mor weeks or so till u get ur background investigation packet. I turned in my packet on sept 23 and didnt get a letter till oct 20 or so, and didnt talk to my investigator on the phone till nov 1st, and with the holidays coming up there might be a delay.

Thanks for the heads up! I have been waiting for this for a while I'm real anxious to really get started. I have had secret clearances that have taken six months so I know these things take time but I hope I'm in the system already and it doesn't take as long. I have an interview around mid December.

I passed my written, physical, and pre background today for ocsd. I think 300 people showed up and half failed the written test. Also, about 20 failed the physical. Thanks everyone and stay safe

Outstanding! -Not for the people who were deselected, but for you.

Good luck on continuing the process.

Anyone in here know what brand and caliber does OCSD recruits use at their academy?
Thank you very much for your help and your time.

Current OCSD issue sidearm is the Glock 22 with Glock night sights.

Thank you.... one more question please.. Is this mean every new recruit will get issue Glock 22 at the academy?
Also, can recruits use different sidearms long as the firearm is approved by the OCSD?

Take what they issue & learn to love it. The very LAST thing you want to do is raise attention to yourself while in the academy, esp. over an issue such as "the gun we gave him isn't good enough for him".

Once you graduate & pass probation you can can worry about a different duty gun. You will likely be in the jails for a couple of years anyway so no big rush.
