    Colt Rail Gun

I wrote this in the handgun forum, but does anyone carry one for duty? I was considering purchasing a semi custom w/ rails, but I like the price point of this gun and plan to send it in later for the Colt tactical package. I already own a NHC GRP, but I want something with a rail. The black is hard to find and the 2 tone is readily available. Would you recommend this gun for duty?

Got to work with one for a few hours. Precision-wise, it performed in alignment with other factory 1911's at a similar price point (shot it out to 25yds with duty ammo). I didn't get to run enough ammo through it to hit a point where I'd think to expect issues. I noticed the edges are a bit sharper than some of the competitors. They need to be broken. I'd like a little better trigger. As it sits from the factory, the big issue for a duty weapon is no night sights. After the T&E, I wasn't looking to run out and buy one but I'd not vote against it if one of my guys wanted to carry it.

If you are looking to send it back to Colt for the tactical package, have you looked at the feature sets of some of the competitors? Does somebody offer more of what you are looking for off the shelf at the same price point? Or by saving your OT for a few more months, consider buying a "higher" model off the shelf. The last few years Springfield's offerings have been getting the nod from departments in my area.

Sorry, No I do not have a a 1911 TAC OPS but I do have a regular Sig 1911 (which shoots very well) but I saw the Sig 1911 TAC OPS at the Sig Sauer booth at a LE Conference and it really looked like a nice handgun for LE use.
