I had an odd thing happen yesterday. I was on my cell phone for about 20 minutes on one call (to a customer service number, wouldn't you know it) and after I hung up I had notifications for two missed calls and one voicemail from the local PD. I called the number they left and was told that they had received a 911 call from my cell. The time they recorded was while I was on the other call.
I am certain that I did not actually initiate the call. I'm concerned that maybe my phone malfunctioned somehow and made it all by itself. But anyway, my question is, how likely is it that the dispatcher just got the originating number wrong? I'm thinking that isn't even possible, but maybe the system isn't as automated as I think it is.
BTW, the officer who took my call was very courteous and didn't seem particularly concerned or surprised. I guess stuff just happens sometimes.
Anyway, TIA to anyone who can help explain this to me.
