No problem. Everyone's bear deserves to be sexy.

I recall getting my bear removed from the badge, having a stud put on it and being able to remove it to polish it separately from the badge itself. Mine had no hair on it either.

I didn't do it until I was off of training in the field, but I don't recall who I took it too as it has been way too many years. I had to have the badge replaced a few times while in patrol as the polishing did tend to remove the blue stripe and the swirls as mentioned.

I just left my sgt. badge as issued.

Avalon Jewelers charges $35 and they have a 24 hour turnaround. Nice people on the phone too.

Now I just have to figure out how to get it to them since they are closed on my days off and 'B's are not authorized right now. Come on rainy season!!

Borrow a badge from a buddy that has opposite days off as you or is on vacation.

That is exactly why before I got my replacment badge and after I damaged my first "quality made" badge, I kept the original bear and brought it with me to the Jeweler to put on the newer "poor quality" badge. They basically did an "organ transplant" on my new badge, with the "good" quality bear.

I did it at a jeweler in Norwalk. I don't remember the name. When I took my badge in to the vault unit at the personnel department for some reason, the department converted it back to the regular mount.
