I have a question for the LEO's here. My son just got out of the army, and is returning to California from North Carolina. While there on active duty, he purchased a FN 5.7. The model he bought is the same as one on the roster, but is not in the black configuration that is on the list. Would he be legal to bring it in to the state? I know he would have to get 10 round mags instead of the 20 round ones it came with. Will he have any issues?

You will get a better answer in the FFL Forum. Short answer is he would be a "Personal Handgun Importer" and be required to submit a form to the DOJ "registering" the handgun within 60 days of moving here. A search of the California DOJ website will tell you what is involved and give a link to the correct form. He would need 10 round magazines, but the gun does not have to be on the roster.
I think this link is the correct form.

I should probably state that I'm not an LEO, just wanted to steer you toward the info relevant toward your questions.Last edited by SCZ; 10-19-2011, 9:59 PM.Central Coast Chapter Meetups http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...d.php?t=493387
