    My thanks to the LBPD - incident this morning

    Hey there folks! I hope there are some LEOs on the boards from the Long Beach PD; just wanted to express my thanks and appreciation for a quick, professional resolution to an incident that occurred early this morning.

    Here's the story;
    About 1 AM this morning, I wake up to some unknown loud-ish banging sound coming from outside. My being a very light sleeper; I typically wake up due to all manner of things - dogs barking, car alarms, animals running around, etc.

    However - for some strange reason, this one felt very different. For some reason, I couldn't shake that "odd" feeling. Since I couldn't fall back to sleep, I got up, took a tour of the house, checked outside - and all "seemed" okay.

    After that, I decided to relax on the couch, see if I could shake it off and get some sleep.

    Before I know it, I hear a bunch of cars out front of my house, and as I get up to check it out, I see several officers with flashlights coming down my driveway. By the time I get to the light switch and even understand what was going on; the officers were gathered around my truck saying "ok - come out now!"

    Not really sure the best way to proceed, I offer the officers access to my back driveway/yard (guarded by a large gate), and they respond, very calmly - "nope - we're all set!".

    Turns out a couple of punks had stolen a car, ditched it, and took off in different directions. The officers quickly apprehended the first suspect, and followed the other to her hiding spot - UNDER MY TRUCK!

    Anyway - not much drama here. But it's great there wasn't any drama - a bunch of great officers doing their jobs perfectly. The only downside was they had to see my fat gut without a shirt on at 1:45 in the morning.

    Thanks again guys; I'm glad you're out there.

    If you would really like to thank them, write a letter or email to the Chief and reference your address, date and time.

        Glad there was a happy ending to your story especially when you didn't know what was going on initially. Kudos to the Professionals

          Please do, as the letter will likely go in the officers' personnel file as a citizen commendation. That is a big deal, since they are so infrequent.

            Done! Just penned a long-ish note to the Commander's office. If any LEO reading this was involved last night; please know I appreciate it and to expect my letter from that office.

                Somewhere, on some LEO board, today was posted "Ran across another fat, half naked guy at a call last night. At least he had pants on..." Just pokling fun, good to see a good encounter with LEO. I'm curious, did you inspect your truck when you went out for a look?

                  The only guys without a shirt on at 1:45 in the morning, fat or otherwise, that bother me are sweaty squirrely tweeks. You're probably good in their eyes. Glad all went well and that you're actually willing to tell people about it.

                      Thanks all for the fun feedback. Yah; I guess LEO running into a shirtless non-tweaker is probably a welcome change.

                      Funny little update; was raking my front yard last night, and I found one of those spring-charged metal stipplers in the grass (the ones you can use to break glass with). Spoke with dispatch, they told me theyve got plenty on these two and wouldn't need it. So; I get a fun souvenir out of it!
