    LASD process

I know few members are in the hiring process with the LASD. Did anyone received any phone call from LASD after first background check meeting?
I am still waiting for my follow up call after my first background meeting last month.

    thanks

There is a big push on to hire right now. Be patient, the investigators are swamped. This is a good thing.

    Good luck!

Yes, be patient. The whole process can take 9-12 months on average. Just remember, unless they tell you that you are out, you're still in.

They have made many changes since I went thru the hiring process, so take the following with a grain of salt.

An applicant who is told he will get his results in the mail after just finishing his oral board, has failed. The notice they receive in two weeks will tell them just that. If you passed the oral they give you a card with the score right then.

I presume they did this to avoid any scene with the failed applicant.

The newer guys here from LASD will be able to confirm if they still do it this way and I hope one of them responds.

I don't mean to upset anyone who is going thru the process, but if they still do it this way, then at least you do not have two weeks to worry about the results and you can get started with testing with another agency.

Is it good idea to apply more than one agency?
I just noticed OCSD is also taking application.
                Thank you

I think you should apply for everyone who is hiring. The process is much to long to wait for any one agency. It is common for applicants to apply for many at one time.

I tested with 10 agencies IIRC. Many of the small ones were only hiring a few. If I was #5, they hired 3; if was #7, they hired 5.

One, SDPD, had all sorts of problems and the listed died after only 6 months. They were going to hire a lot and I was #11. Darn.

I finally was hired by LASD and while in the academy, LAPD contacted me to ask if I wanted to take an oral. No way, nope.

Keep on testing, unless this is the only agency you want to work for.

                    Good luck BoJackUSMC.
