    Tactical Vests.

hi, these questions are geared more toward swat/srt and those who wear tactical vests.

i was wondering what your department's current modern "tactical" color, color scheme, and or pattern is?
what do you carry on your vest to make your job, and day easier/ safer?
    ^^how much of each?
how much ammo do you carry?

    thanks!

If guns are outlawed, then an outlaw I'll be...

used to be tiger stripe camo, now it's Black and/or Olive Drab - if you're REALLY HSLD, however, you can wear 5.11 Tan...

tissues, chapstick, gum, jamba juice card, cell phone, challenge coins, playing cards, bunch of knives, etc...

7 rounds - the 7th bullet is for Evil...

      thanks!
      don't mention it...

You going to be graded for accuracy on Oct 31?

maybe, kind of. i was looking for basic supplies that they carry with them on a daily bases and from the pile of stuff listed, i'll pick and choose what i think would be good to have.

i'm thinking that a SHTF bag would get REALLY heavy with ammo already in magazines added to the current gear. a vest would already have it and when worn it disperses the weight. along with carrying your first flash light, knife, multi tool, etc... without having to shuffle through a bag to find basic things. idk just a thought.

on zombie day best to just be a ninja

                  NOT a mall ninja...

a ninja would look low profile, not like a target for criminals or a guy that law enforcement wants to check his bags....

ditch the vest and think low-key

in that case there are vest that look like fisherman's or hunter's vest that are plate carrier and have a bunch of pockets and zippers for your uses. they were designed to look low key...

IMO, you should be coming up with your own set up - what I wear and/or have with me On Duty (e.g. in response to an active shooter(s) situation) is going to be WAY different than what I would wear and/or have with me away from work (e.g. some kind of MAJOR disaster where I also need to get out and stay out of town)...

E.g. Where are you planning on going, for how long, and what kinds of problems might you be encountering?

                        S.A.M.,

Tac vests have their niche in police work. Several units in my dept use/wear them. The majority buy them from a small company called The Vest Man. The owner's son and grandaughter are both on my department (talk about having a vested interest in his product). His grandaughter is the girl in the pics.

He custom makes them according to your ballistic panels. Here's his website http://www.thevestman.com

I have a vest/carrier from The Vestman - it's not bad. If I had to do it all over again though, I'd probably have a full Molle vest/carrier custom made instead. Buddy of mine had one made, a little more $$ than The Vestman but it's really really nice and has the benefit of being modular (i.e. you can reconfigure it at any time and pretty much however you want)...

"H" harness is good too. I've been in the woods wearing a load bearing vest and the "H" harness. The "H" harness is cooler and seems more comfortable. I like the vest when doing stuff in an urban setting.
