If your dept put out a completely unconstitutional order for you to confiscate all the firearms of everyone that lived in your jurisdiction? I ask this question because Im curious as to what the common leo response would be here on a pro 2nd amendment forum. Im pretty sure most leo's that are neutral (I guess) on gun rights wouldn't hesitate for a second to follow such an order, like we seen during katrina.

Not a LEO;
If their is an unconstitutional law the most leos probably wouldnt enforce it. If they have legitimate reasons (which is really hard to think of one for that situation) then they would probably enforce it.
I can see this thread turning sideways fast. Should the mods just go ahead and lock this now or ????? -
This would most likely be a task for the National Guard.If you think nobody cares if you're alive, try missing a couple of payments.

Well thats kind of the point during katrina the police didn't hesitate so they clearly weren't pro 2nd like the ones on here. Therefore thats the point of this post to get the point of view of a pro 2nd amendment leo.Not a LEO;

It's not a matter of pro or con 2nd amendment. It's about following a lawful order. Most officers would bring forward protest, stating their concerns. Supervisors would then have to back up the order with some sort of legal opinion from their city attorney/DA/State AG which would either support the order, or lose the fight. Most officers don't want to go off and violate constitutional rights...we like to keep owning houses, stay out of trouble, etc...
If however such an opinion was rendered, the officers would likely be shielded from liability as they have received some sort of legal opinion that is telling them it's constitutional. The boss/DA/AG on the other hand, may not be so lucky if their opinion failed constitutional muster.
I think there was a bill passed that prohibited this from happening anyways. Also, with McDonald/Heller on the books I see it as unlikely that such an opinion would ever be rendered.Comment

I understand where your coming from with tec info, but Im speaking on the grounds if such an order was rendered and you personally would be amongst the leo enforcing it. Think for example if it was in the wake of a newly enacted law, such as something with the stature of the patriot act for exampleComment

Not sure if

During the post Rodney King LA riots, cops didn't go out and confiscate guns from everyone in their jurisdiction."Bruen, the Bruen opinion, I believe, discarded the intermediate scrutiny test that I also thought was not very useful; and has, instead, replaced it with a text history and tradition test." I'm so tired of all these gun confiscation threads. This is nothing but a troll thread. Period.
To date, no one has been able to point out any time this happening in California, the disaster Capitol of the country.

I wasn't aware "gun confiscation" threads were common and that to you are a no no (which I could care less), but thats no reason for name calling. If you don't like it don't read it.Comment

We would all yell "Jawohn mein Kommandant" and proceed to grab as many guns as possible, keeping the good ones for our personal collections.
Now that you have the answer you were looking for, I have a bridge for sale, it's a great deal that you just can't pass up. I am also selling a genuine video of a snowball fight in hell.
Warning: Due to the large number of
that have infiltrated the LEO forum, you may not get a serious answer.

They pop up all the time, where have you been? and they always turn into a LE bashing thread.
I suggest you read the rules for the LE Forum too, since it is obvious you are a new member.LASD Retired
