The wording in your post is really confusing. This also isn't the appropriate place to post this either.

Why would you want to, given the stigma? Just save yourself the hassle.

Black Talon bullets are perfectly legal. They were pulled from the market due to bad press, not some kind of a ban.

Do a search. There is a recent thread on the same thing.

        Found it.

          Who is 'we'?

While on duty, LEO can carry anything their agency approves (or, sometimes, anything the agency doesn't outright prohibit).

My question is this, why would you want to purchase and carry outdated and obsolete ammunition that you are trusting your life to? Black Talons have not been made in years, so anything you but will be at least ten years old. Who knows if it was stored properly?

That said, it is not illegal to buy or posses Black Talon ammo, as long as you're not a prohibited person.

Yup +1 listen to Ron, Black Talon is just really the lure of the name. Your better off with Federal HST, or Winchester ranger and Speer gold dots. Black Talon is out dated....

Black Talons and Winchester SXT Ranger Series are ballistically identical.

^^ but they are truly badass looking. Someone gave me a .44 mag Black Talon round when I was 10 or so. I still have it. Very cool. FailSafe is a close second. Black Bullets for Black Rifles! Now I want a box for AR pics.

Ranger SXT = Ranger Super Expansion Talon

That was from the lips of a Winchester Rep I met at one of our ranges a few years back.

The new "Ranger" series bullets from Winchester was the direct replacement for the "black talons." The current version of the Rangers performs much better than the 1st generation of "talon" bullets (i.e. black talons). The current "Rangers" have a slightly larger HP cavity and open up better than the old black talons.

I'll second, third and fourth the fact that the Black Talons are old and I wouldn't trust them for defense. I'd use them on coyotes or target practice out in the desert if I had a surplus of them.
