I was in a rollover last night.

Coming home I was driving eastbound on a two lane highway. Much of it is unlit and dark at 3 in the morning.

Ahead of me, an 18 year old hit a pole and her car ended up back in the eastbound lane, facing westbound. No headlights, hazards or anything else to let me know it was there. She was sitting on the side of the road.

By the time I saw it, I had to swerve hard left to miss it and I over corrected, rolling my car 4 or 5 times and hitting a telephone pole on the drivers side at the engine compartment, ripping the wheel and axle off.

The Chippie told me had the pole hit me in the drivers side door...I'd be dead.

Moral of the story, please be careful out there ladies and gentlemen. I almost lost my life last night and its a sobering experience.

Take it easy for a few. It's normal to be shaken up. Take lots of time off work and just relax with the family. Glad you're ok.

My arms and hands are split open from the glass breaking and hitting all the crap inside the car. The back of my head is split open in about 6 places and my lady had been cleaning dirt out of my cuts for the last 12 hours.

Nothing permanent though. X-Rays and CT Scan were clear.

Taft deputy injured in rollover accident

At 1:50 a.m. Monday, a deputy from the Taft substation was driving his patrol car east on Highway 119, behind another vehicle, when the other vehicle swerved to avoid hitting a disabled vehicle.

The deputy also swerved to avoid the disabled vehicle, causing him to drive onto the north side shoulder resulting in the patrol car rolling over. The deputy was taken to Kern Medical Center for medical treatment and was listed in stable condition.

The California Highway Patrol is investigating the incident.

I am not a LEO but I am glad you are OK.

It might be until day three at least for pulled muscles and twisted joints to make an appearance, so take it really easy physically for at least a week.

Having been upside down in cars before, I keep my interior pretty clean and everything secured.
It's amazing how much stuff goes bouncing around when you're rolling.
