I recently purchased a rifle thru a Ffl all legal ppt and the guy I got it from gave me a hi cap mag rebuild kit so my question is keep it or take it to Police station to be destroyed I don't want to break any laws being in possesion of a hi cap mag even if it's just a parts kit any info much aPpreciated in advance

As long as you don't "manufacture" a so-called high capacity magazine, there is no issue. You can modify it so that it can not accept over 10 rounds, put it together and that is fine. You can also sell it as parts, just not as an assembled magazine.
FYI, possession of a so-called high capacity magazine is not illegal, it is only:
12020(a) ...
(2) Commencing January 1, 2000, manufactures or causes to be
manufactured, imports into the state, keeps for sale, or offers or
exposes for sale, or who gives, or lends, any large-capacity
magazine.Kemasa.

i have several "rebuild ak mags" not assembled and its perfectly legal, ur other option is to but a skrew or a block off inside the mag so it will only accept 10 rounds then you are compliant, the law states the mag cannot exceed 10 rounds. so you are ok if it not assembled or there is a device blocking the insertion of more than 10 roundsComment
