    Graduation is at hand!

I am really excited. Just passed my final exam at my POST Basic academy last night and just have a debrief and evaluations tonight, class dinner tomorrow, a class activity Sunday, and then graduation on Tuesday!

Graduating #2 in my class academically with a 96% average. Scored a 564 on my final PAT.

I have a few apps out there now, have a PAT on monday and another on the 20th. Going to line up some ride alongs, look into some other extended training options, and keep applying, and possible look to get on as a reserve somewhere until I can get picked up.

Although I have to admit, I am going to miss the academy a bit, had great times and made some good friends from it.

Anyhow, I am really excited about acomplishing this step on my way to my goal, and thought I would share.

Congrats! I remember when I walked and I still miss my time there with my fellow cadets. Applying can be a rough experience. Best of luck.

Congrats man, I get sworn in next friday. I graduate on Sept. 9th. Can't wait to get out on the streets. There seems to be a lot more agencies opening up. You will get in brother.

LOL, OC is some fun stuff. Really hot day in San Bernardino with a little bit of wind. Overall I handled it pretty well. Got sprayed, advanced to the baton strike station and did some great zone 1 and zone 2 strikes, advanced to the palm strike station, the did ok through that. Then I turned to advance to the knee strike station, and turned directly into the hot wind. That really finally got it set off and I had difficulty keeping my eyes open and tripped a little but stayed on my feet. As I advanced to the knee strike station the deputy holding the bag walked backwards so I have my arms out trying to grab the bag to pull it into my strike and couldn't find it. In the video of it, I look like I was trying out to be a zombie, lol. Finally did my knee strike and then went to the felony arrest station. Performed a pretty decent job there, verbalized well if at a bit higher pitch than normal, hahaha. Took awhile before the swelling on my eyelids went down enough to keep them open to drive though. Only had reactivation for the next two days and after that I was good to go.

All in all I thought CS gas was worse (while under the affects of it), but OC just keeps on giving, lol. The gas house was great, especially when a classmate broke away from his partner and ran out of the entrance right before my partner and I made entry. Ahhh the memories

I hope you find a good agency to work for. If you graduating from a fully credited POST academy, maybe you should apply for LASD. I believe they are hiring now.

Sean, that is great news, congratulations!! Graduating #2 academically in the class is also fantastic! All of that hard work that you have put in has certainly paid off.

You have the right idea about doing ride alongs and looking into becoming a reserve, but I hope you are able to obtain a sworn full time position with a dept. and won't have to go the reserve route.

Had my PAT with a big county agency today and knocked it out of the park. Beat all of my previous bests. Didnt get the score back but I feel really good. Surprised myself a bit and did the 500 in 1:09. Guess I was motivated! LOL
