Hello, I'm new to the forums and I have a question about the legality of a handgun so I hope this is in the right forum. A friend wants to trade me a Hi-point 45 but I see that they are not on Californias list of approved handguns. If I aquire this pistol what problems would I run into? Is it illegal to own? Thanks.

It's legal to own and transfer. The roster only applies to the handguns dealers can sell you.

What he said^^^^^ as long as the gun was legally obtained by your friend and you go through a FFL.

PPT (Person to Person Transfer) through a licensed dealer (FFL) is legal for you to buy as PPT is exempt from the 'CA Roster'.

I don't know if that weapon has standard cap mags (Greater than 10 rounds). So it would be a no go if standard caps were included? [REF <]As I don't know if CA has any regulations on if a Mag is required for the transfer of a handgun. Anytime a standard cap was involved with my FFL he would just mark on the receipt as Mag=Rebuild kit.
