    Duty Vests

What do you have? Likes, dislikes?

I have the protective products python...

It weights almost 8 lbs and is more cumbersome than my level 4 Blackhawk tac vest. I have had it for over a year and a half and it still is not broken in.

I wear a US Armor vest.

Its actually pretty light. I run a Titanium trauma plate though. Its very comfortable. I am researching external soft armor carriers though.

I want something I can use on probation/ Parole sweeps or special events.

That's cool. I will have to post a pic of my tac vest... I never though something that weights 3 times as much would be more comfortable.

Safariland Matrix Silver III vest IIRC. Don't know how much it weighs dry! Running a protech fiberglass trauma plate. Do know it is heavier than the new II+ vests my partner just got.

Oh...and check out this carrier...it is inexpensive ($50) and works. http://www.majorsurplus.com/ICE-Plat...5427C2228.aspx

            That thing looks pretty slick.

Does it carry soft and hard plates? I may need to invest in that bad boy

Nice! That would be awesome for our grows!... "La Migra"!!!

Currently, I'm using the Blackhawk vest for the grows, but it stands out being all black. I need a camo carrier. Our digital 5.11 BDU's work good in the terrain we work, so I need to find something similar on the cheep!

For duty I do use trauma plates... A soft in the back, and a hard metal, covered by a soft in the front to prevent ricochet.

The only problem with the voodoo ICE carrier is there is no rifle plate pockets. Your soft armor fits in super great from underneath with generous full length velcro tabs. They make another carrier for rifle plates. I really like the Velcro and molle versatility, it lets me quickly make the vest task specific.
