Help finding CVC regarding parking lots

I need help finding CVC regarding parking lots. Specifically I need the regulations regarding signage in parking lots that charge fees to park. I want to know if signs are required to be posted at all entrances of parking lots that collect fees.

I also want to know if there are any regulations regarding what happens if a machine that dispenses parking permits is out of order.

I found 42000-42300 that discusses parking violations but it does not state anything about signage or permit dispensers.

    Thanks a lot!

I dunno...we rarely have to deal with that. I don't think signs at all entrances are required, but don't take my word for that. You may want to check your city's muni code on that one.

It will not be in the Vehicle code.

Hmmm. The issue is that I was given a parking violation at school today for not displaying a permit. The problem is that the only machine that dispenses permits for the whole lot was out of order and the next closest machine is on the other side of campus. The lot I parked in is isolated from the rest of parking on campus.

I think is unreasonable for them to make me go to the other side of campus to get a permit because THEIR machine is out of order. I have no problem paying but I don't have time to get back in my car and drive to the opposite side of campus to get a permit.

I was looking for a specific code to give them instead of just saying "Hey its wrong of you make me go to another lot to get a pass so you should drop the ticket".

        Thanks for the help.

What's the violation on the citation? The answer lays in your hands...

What college? As for signs. I'm sure they are there if you look...

The violation is specific to the college. 9.602 SCC- No Valid Permit Visible.

You are not going to win that argument. Just because one of their machines is out of order doesn't mean you get to park for free on their property.

A quick Google search found this (or the PDF version):

                  9.602 Parking Permit Required

Except as otherwise provided in this code, every vehicle parked upon a District owned, controlled or operated property posted at the entrance with a sign indicating that parking is by permit only, shall properly display a current valid parking permit.

                  1. Every vehicle lawfully displaying a valid disabled person license plate or placard issued by the Department of Motor Vehicles shall be exempt from the requirement to display a parking permit.
If there is no sign, then you aren't guilty.

Is that the right college? You didn't say.

So, you knew the parking lot required a permit, you didn't have a permit (which was available at another location), and you got ticketed for not having a permit. Sounds like you may be SOL...

Go state your argument with campus police/campus administration...

My office is located within the campus of a college. There is a sign at the entrance of the parking lot that there is no student parking before 4:00 PM. The students are cited even with the campus parking permit. You have to display proper permit for the particular lot. I never checked the violation section, but they sure give out parking citations.
