fix it ticket question

I got a front plate ticket on superbowl sunday and found my plate in the garage recently and fixed it. I tried to get it signed off today but the officer said he wouldn't sign it off because the date on the ticket is past due 3/23/11. The courthouse sent me the letter in the mail saying the due date is 04/24/11 though. The police station wouldn't send another officer to come outside to talk to me and the lady on the phone remembers me and says what ever that officer said goes. I spoke with some other people and they say it shouldn't be an issue because I go by the due date on the paper the court house sent to me. Can someone tell me if i'm screwed or not? I'm currently not working and I don't want a $25 fix it ticket to turn into a $200 ticket

Bring the letter and go to the local CHP office.

I had the letter at the police station he just kept saying I was out of luck. So i'll be ok going to a different station? I drove around for 3 hours trying to find an officer but no luck for some reason today

Make sure you don't have tint on your front windows before going to CHP lol. I've seen that before.
