Is it possible to get old crime reports for a specific address?

Is it possible to look up a criminal history report for a specific address?

ie: If I wanted to check out an apartment complex before moving in.

I searched around online a bit but it doesn't look like much is available that way.

Yes, this thread is inspired by the other thread where the poor guy is having major criminal activity in his neighborhood.

    Sometimes.

Look at http://www.sandiego.gov/police/stats/ for one example.

Frozen in 2015, it is falling out of date and I can no longer edit the content. But much of it is still good!

You can go into your local police department and ask for records for particular addresses. They can and probably will charge you for the cost of producing them. Also the amount of records can slow down the production time.

Up in NorCal there were some "open government" types before budgets went kablooie that tried this with various Bay Area LEAs. They worked with a few newspapers to do some gotcha journalism.

You could use ARJIS public site and the crime mapping feature: http://mapping.arjis.org/

You can map an address, intersection and other things with a radius in a particular time window. It won't give you the details but would give you the types of crime. That should give you a pretty good idea.

At the PD or SD you may find a call log or call report for a particular address would give you the info you are looking for more quickly and cheaply than requesting 'police reports' for a site and surrounding locations.

You could just talk to one of the local patrol guys on that beat. He'll let you know what's going on there, at least during his shift.

          Good Luck!

What agency since many post their crime maps on line. You can see where the calls for service and arrests are being made.

You can map an address, circle and added things with a ambit in a accurate time window. It will not accord you the data but would accord you the types of crime. That should accord you a appealing acceptable idea.
